Artemis and Lion. c.2nd cent BC. Silver obol. 12mm. 0.61g. Head of Artemis right./ Lion left, head facing, right leg raised, cored exergual line. Villaronga & Benages−, Burgos−, Calico−. Good VF, bright silver lightly toned. Ex Quebec collection, DNW 8.9.1999, lot 140. Was £100. Now only £75
Appears to be an Iberian imitation of Massalia ‘drachme lègére‘, cf. BN 1171, apparently unpublished by major catalogues. Requires further research.
