Toletum Horseman. Toletum. c.50-20 BC. Bronze transitional as. 23mm. 7.33g. Bearded head right with curly hair and beaded neck-ring, [EX]SS behind, [CELT]AMB in front./ Horseman right, TOLE in exergue. VB 1903, Burgos 2406, Calico 1197. Very Fine, earthy green patina, clear neck-ring. VERY RARE first we’ve seen.                                                  Was £220. Now only £175 

Toletum (modern Toledo, 40m. SSW of Madrid), Celtiberian stronghold of Carpetani, taken by Rome 193 BC. Celtamb was presumably a native administrator. Villaronga & Benages (2011) record only four from these dies.
