Primitive Money & Artefacts
Our core business is coins, not antiquities. However, we often have a few small artefacts in Liz’s Celtic Shop – pieces acquired incidentally when we buy coins from metdets or collectors.
They’re mostly bronze field-finds of no great value – late Iron Age, Roman or Romano-British, or early Medieval, often incomplete – though we occasionally buy a nice pricey piece if we like the look of it. We call them ‘Celtic’ in the sense that many probably came from places – Britain, Gaul, Balkans, etc – where Celtic was still spoken.
Not being experts in this field, we keep our descriptions brief and basic, and we don’t try to date things. All we can say with confidence is that they’re all genuine and all ancient – at least 1,700 years old unless otherwise stated.
